This free, public event will showcase the findings of a multi-media research project on the affordable housing crisis in Santa Cruz.  UC Santa Cruz faculty and students and members of the community will exhibit art and new digital tools on how local residents experience the housing crisis, as well as results from a survey and interview project carried out by UC Santa Cruz students in coordination with Community Bridges and other community groups in the Beach Flats and Lower Ocean neighborhoods. Students and community members will share stories, testimonies, and art addressing the challenges of creating a sense of "home" in the midst of a housing crisis.  The evening will conclude with an open community dialogue about issues facing residents and possible steps forward.  This is a kick-off event for Affordable Housing Awareness Week in Santa Cruz.  Community organizations will be on hand to share information about their work and the week’s events.

Spanish translation will be provided.

The Chicano Latino Research Center is honored to co-sponsor this free, public event with the Center for Labor Studies, Critical Sustainabilities Project, and Division of Social Sciences.
